Selena Gomez confesses she never expected to fall for Benny Blanco Clutch Fire

Selena Gomez opened up about her surprising love story with Benny Blanco and shared that she never expected they would end up together.

The chart-topping singer and actress revealed that she first met the music producer when she was just 16. And at that time, they were thinking about working on music together but nothing serious came out of it.

During her recent interview on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, the Calm Down hitmaker said, “We met when I was 16 because we were going to possibly work together but I didn’t start releasing music until 17 or 18 officially and so we saw each other around.”

She added, “It was nice and then I don’t know … I feel like he was an acquaintance, if that makes sense?”

Selena further explained that they were not close back then. However, they made a few songs together like Same Old Love and I Can’t Get Enough but even then she never felt anything romantic. 

“To be honest, I wasn’t besties. I just thought he was nice and then we did a few songs together. Same Old Love, which was awesome and we had a great time, nothing really there. And then I Can’t Get Enough, which was with Tainy and J Balvin, didn’t get it there either,” she continued.

Years later, things changed for both of them and the Who Says singer said that she has now reached a place in life where she was ready for something real. “You need to be where you are. It’s all about timing to meet that person.”

They reconnected while working on Single Soon and something clicked. Selena recalled, “He came in and I was like oh ‘Hi Benny’ and we spoke for two hours and I asked him to hook me up with anybody that he knew that was cute … and next thing you know we’re dating.”

Now, the lovebirds are engaged and planning a future together.
