Ozzy Osbourne’s emotional request: ‘make my funeral a celebration’

Ozzy Osbourne lived his life on his own terms, and his legacy is undoubtedly one to be celebrated for his remarkable career.

Long before his death, the legendary artist shared his wishes for his funeral. The metal icon passed away on Tuesday, just weeks after performing his final concert with Black Sabbath.

His family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement.

The music world has been mourning his loss, and now, Ozzy’s earlier comments about his funeral plans have resurfaced.

Ozzy had made it clear that he did not want the event to be a sad occasion, but rather a time to say ‘thanks.’

‘There will be no harping on the bad times,’ he told The Times back in 2011.

It’s worth remembering that a lot of people see nothing but misery their whole lives, so by any measure, most of us in this country-especially rock stars like me-are very lucky. That’s why I do not want my funeral to be sad, I want it to be a time to say ‘thanks.’

Ozzy emphasised that he envisioned his funeral as a celebration, not a ‘mope-fest,’ and said he did not mind what music played, as long as it brought joy to his loved ones.

Notably, Ozzy is survived by his wife, Sharon, and their three six children. He had three children with Sharon-Aimee, 41, and Jack 40.

Ozzy also had two children, Jessica and Louis, from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, and he adopted her son, Elliot, from her previous relationship.
