John Cena proves he is a coffee lover Clutch Fire

John Cena is known for his wrestling legacy and Hollywood roles, but he also has a serious passion for coffee, especially when it comes to judging the perfect flat white.

The 48-year-old actor recently sat down for a taste review with Bon Appétit on Thursday, Aug. 21, where he shared how he ranks coffee shops around the world.

Looking at the cup handed to him, Cena immediately pointed out that it was an American-style flat white.

“I can tell because it’s too big and there’s too much milk, and the milk’s not steamed,” he said without hesitation. For him, the flat white is more than just a drink, it’s his way of testing whether a café is truly “coffee first.”

As Cena explained, “Coffee is a universal language throughout the world,” and the flat white, by design, should highlight the coffee itself rather than the additives like milk.

He admitted that many places miss the mark, focusing on food first and using coffee as a side offering. When told the cup came from the Condé Nast café, Cena didn’t hold back, noting, “It’s obvious that they are not coffee first, because it would be in a smaller cup, six ounces or less, five, six.“

“This is more to the eight side,” he declared.

The former WWE champion revealed that the best flat whites he has ever tried were in Melbourne, Australia, smiling as he said, “They are coffee-first people.”

He also broke down why the drink is his preferred test of a café’s quality, pointing out that unlike lattes loaded with milk, a flat white can be visually judged before even taking a sip.

After finally tasting the cup in front of him, Cena noted that it was “a little too milk forward” and concluded it was made with a single shot of espresso and eight ounces of milk.

Holding up two fingers, he added, “Here’s another catch with the flat white. It’s a double shot. So you get a little more strong coffee taste and a little less milk, which is why I like that six ounces, because you should see a cappuccino cup in my hand, it disappears.”

Fans quickly reacted to the video, with many amused by Cena’s detailed coffee knowledge.

“Wow how pretentious. I agree with everything he said,” one viewer joked, while others called for a full series of him visiting coffee shops around the world.

Of course, his iconic wrestling catchphrase also made its way into the comments, with one fan writing, “So confused, I don’t see anyone in this video!” and another adding, “The voice over is great, [wish] I could see who’s talking.”

From the wrestling ring to Hollywood and now into coffee conversations, Cena proved once again that he brings passion and detail into everything he does, even a flat white.
