Taylor Swift has fully participated in her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s latest project. The pop superstar gave her full approval for the use of her image and likeness in ESPN’s new six-part docuseries The Kingdom.
The series highlights the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 season along with the franchise’s rich history.
Director Kristen Lappas revealed that Swift “approved all of her image and likeness” for the show and was “very supportive” of the production.
However, the filmmakers made a conscious choice not to interview her, keeping the story focused on the team itself rather than her relationship with Kelce.
Chiefs CMO and Foolish Club Studios COO Lara Krug explained the approach, saying, “Now you see her in the way that I think is how she wanted to be seen, which is as a fan of the community.”
The series spotlights Kelce alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes, defensive tackle Chris Jones and head coach Andy Reid, while also exploring how the Chiefs became one of the NFL’s most dominant dynasties.
Swift’s presence in the project feels natural given her visible support of the team since she began dating Kelce in 2023. She’s been a regular at games across the country, and Kelce recently shared just how much she has embraced football.
“She is the most engulfed fan now,” the tight end told GQ. “She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short, all these things, because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.”
While Swift doesn’t sit for interviews in The Kingdom, her approval ensures that fans will catch glimpses of her in the series, this time not as a global superstar on stage, but as a devoted supporter cheering from the stands.
