Donna Kelce is keeping busy these days, and her calendar is filled with football, family, and a little bit of pop culture.
The proud mom of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and retired NFL star Jason Kelce shared that she recently tuned in to her sons’ New Heights podcast episode featuring none other than Taylor Swift.
Speaking at the red carpet premiere of ESPN’s The Kingdom docuseries on August 24, Donna told PEOPLE she was impressed by the August 13 episode.
There, Swift not only revealed the cover art for her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl, but also kissed Travis, talked about her love of baking sourdough bread, and became emotional while opening up about regaining the rights to her music.
“I did watch the podcast … and I think it was just really, really eventful,” Donna said. “It was authentic. It was just something I think everybody was thrilled to see, and it was a very loving podcast.”
Fans seemed to agree.
Swift’s appearance on New Heights has already broken records for the show, racking up over 20 million views and surpassing the episode featuring Jason’s wife Kylie Kelce, which previously held the top spot.
Ed Kelce, the family’s patriarch, also shared his thoughts on the viral moment while at the premiere.
“Oh, it was good. It was awesome. … They’re two people obviously very much in love,” he told PEOPLE.
The excitement around the podcast comes as Swift is also set to appear in The Kingdom, ESPN’s new six-part docuseries that highlights the Chiefs’ history and their 2024 NFL season.
Director Kristen Lappas confirmed that Swift was “very supportive” of the project and approved all use of her image and likeness, though the filmmakers chose not to interview her in order to keep the spotlight on the team.
Between the record-breaking podcast, her visible support at games, and now a feature in The Kingdom, Swift’s presence around the Kelce family continues to grow, something Donna and Ed seem more than happy to celebrate.
