BTS returns live on stage after three year hiatus
BTS returns live on stage after three year hiatus

BTS, the K-pop supergroup, has released its first group album in three years, Permission To Dance On Stage — Live, marking their return to the music scene after a period of enlistment.

The live album features 22 songs from their 2021 tour of the same name, which consisted of 12 shows across Seoul, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

The tour, which was initially launched as an online concert due to COVID-19 restrictions, amassed 4 million attendees across in-person, live-viewing, and online livestreaming.

The album features BTS mainstays like DNA, Idol, Fake Love, and Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey), along with fan favourites like Black Swan, Spring Day, Airplane pt. 2, and Silver Spoon.

The album’s release comes after the group’s recent livestream on the Hybe-owned Weverse fan platform, where they announced plans for their post-military enlistment future.

BTS told fans that they’re all heading to the U.S. to begin working on new music that is currently slated for a spring 2026 release. “We’ll be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year.

Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music. Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas,” the group said in a statement.

BTS also announced plans for a world tour next year, their first since “Permission to Dance on Stage”. The group is approaching their new album with the same mindset they had when they first started, and fans are eagerly awaiting their return to the music scene.

Until 2026, BTS members are seemingly continuing previously planned solo work, including eldest member Jin, whose solo tour just kicked off two nights at Anaheim’s Honda Center. J-Hope, who recently wrapped his own solo tour, headlined Lollapalooza Berlin last weekend.

All members of BTS reunited for the first time since 2022 last month at J-Hope’s solo concert finale in Goyang, South Korea.

The reunion marked the end of a busy week for the group as members RM, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook were discharged from their mandatory military service earlier that week, joining the already released J-Hope and Jin.

Suga completed his mandatory military service as social work personnel that following week, signaling the official return-to-active status for the group.
