Andy Cohen weighs in on Stephen Colbert’s late-night show cancellation

Andy Cohen has recently shared his strong reaction to Stephen Colbert’s late night show cancellation.

While speaking to Deadline at Las Culturistas Culture Awards red carpet, the Watch What Happens Live host opened up about The Late Show coming to an end.

“I think it’s a sad day for late-night television,” said the 57-year-old.

Andy reiterated that it’s “a sad day for CBS” as well.

“I think Stephen is a singular talent. He’s going to have an incredible next chapter,” explained The Real Housewives host.

He noted, “I can’t believe CBS is turning off the lights at 11:30 after the local news.”

Gushing over Stephen, Andy felt stunned and added, “He’s one of three late-night shows deemed worthy enough for an Emmy nomination.”

“He produces a brilliant show,” remarked the American TV show host.

Interestingly, Andy shared that he “worked at CBS when David Letterman came to CBS” making the eye network “a powerhouse in late-night television, so it’s sad.

“I spent 10 years at CBS. It’s sad for CBS, really,” concluded the host.

Earlier, in a press statement, CBS confirmed that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert “will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season”.

“We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home,” it read.
